A few things worth knowing.
Is the image compressor really free?
Yes. This tool requires no payment, account, API credits or subscription. Processing uses your device rather than a paid image-processing service.
Will my images always become smaller?
No. Savings depend on the original image, output format, quality and dimensions. Already optimized files may become larger. We show the actual sizes and clearly label larger outputs. For photos, try WebP or JPG and a lower quality setting.
Does PNG use the quality slider?
No. PNG output is lossless and ignores the quality slider. Resizing or converting to WebP can reduce a PNG's file size. JPG output uses a white background where an image is transparent.
Are my photos uploaded or stored?
No. Image selection, processing and downloads happen locally in this browser. The tool has no analytics, upload endpoint or external script dependencies. The hosting provider receives normal page requests, but this tool does not send your image files.
What about animated images and very large photos?
Animated WebP files are converted to a single still frame. GIF, SVG, HEIC and AVIF inputs are not supported. Each image must be under 25 MB, no larger than 32 megapixels, and no edge longer than 16,384 pixels. Results are limited to 8,192 pixels per edge and 32 megapixels for browser memory safety.
Can I use it offline?
After this page has loaded, processing needs no network connection. You can also save the HTML file and open it locally. Format support depends on your browser; unavailable output formats produce a clear error.
